Michele Bowes is an Accredited Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work and a Masters of Social Work Advanced Practice. Michele currently works in Sexual Assault seeing clients from young children to adults and their non-offending parents/carers, partners or siblings.

Michele provides psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults, counselling and therapeutic interventions, facilitation of groups, advocacy community awareness, court support, report production, clinical supervision and provision of education in relation to Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence. She is also involved in the tendering and development of programs.

Michele has relieved on several occasions as senior site Social Worker when the position holder has gone on leave. She is an active Director on Board of Upper Hunter Homelessness Support Outreach Service and Coordinator of the Upper Hunter Love Bites program.

Prior to working in Sexual Assault Michele has worked in child protection and early intervention, working with families with a range of issues including Mental Health, Domestic Violence, Drugs and Alcohol.

Travelling through Asia, the South Pacific and South America Michele has seen firsthand people’s vulnerabilities to the exploitation of their children through poverty, lack of education and wanting a better life for their children. Michele also believes strongly in the support, training and clinical supervision of frontline staff to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue.

Human rights, social justice, the rights of women and children, animal welfare and the environment have always been an important part of Michele’s professional and private life. Michele is a vegan, loves to read non-fiction books, has a strong belief in mindfulness and meditation as a way to help keep present and practices yoga. Michele loves music, spending time with friends and family, snorkelling, travelling and walking her dogs.
