SISHA calls upon all past, present and future supporters to help launch Cambodia’s first operational Support Crisis Center for victims of sexual assault and gender-based violence in the country’s highest risk location, Battambang Province.
As many of our supporters will know, SISHA has designed this centre in response to the high prevalence of sexual assault and gender based violence committed against women and children in Battambang Province. As the first of its kind, this centre will offer a level of service and support that is both unparalleled and long overdue in Cambodia. Working in collaboration with the Cambodian National Police, the center will provide quality medical triage to victims; counseling and welfare services to victims and their families; video and audio equipped interview rooms for victim statements; transcripts of interviews to police and courts in written and CD format; and aftercare services for victims. The center will also collect and forensically analyse to international standards crucial forensic evidence from victims required to successfully prosecute offenders.
The initial establishment and running of this center will expand a three-year period. SISHA intends to then continue the operations of the center, as well as take lessons learned from this center and create similar establishments elsewhere in the country. The overall budget for the three-year project is $700,000; an amount which, owing to the importance, necessity and uniqueness of the center, SISHA is confident of raising through our various donors and supporters.
To launch this project and help ensure that the services and support the center will provide victims are made available without further delay, SISHA is calling on your immediate support, and the support of your family, colleagues and friends. We are asking 700 of our supporters to give just $27 a month for 3 years to fund this entire project. To commence proceedings SISHA requires $11,000, which will be used to identify key services that are necessary for the center, and to develop an implementation plan. This will ensure the establishment of a center that specifically addresses the community’s needs.
Your contribution to this urgent and much needed project will make a real difference today. To support the SISHA Support Crisis Center please go to: www.sisha.org/donate_main.html.
SISHA thanks you for your support.
