SISHA International is not a faith based organisation. We operate in countries of varying faiths and there is no expectation or requirement for staff members, interns or any person involved with SISHA International to have a particular faith. We provide assistance to victims of abuse regardless of their religious beliefs, ethnicity, or gender.

Why does SISHA International not have offices in all countries around the world where abuse occurs?

SISHA International is a not-for-profit organisation and our efforts to fight abuse are primarily supported by the support of our generous supporters. If financial resources were obtained, countries that have a high level of abuse and in need of SISHA International’s services are Myanmar, Philippines, Africa and India.

What happens to a victim when SISHA International assists them?

SISHA International works closely with judicial officials to ensure that immediate social services are provided to victims of abuse. In all cases, SISHA International will conduct a needs assessment on all people who come into our care to determine the best and safest outcome for that person. This outcome may include short to long term care from a credible organisation who SISHA International partners with or safe re-integration of the victim back to their family environment.

SISHA International continues to routinely follow up with victims and their families well after their case has been finalised at court, to ensure that the victim or their family is not vulnerable to further abuse.

Can foreign lawyers represent SISHA International’s clients in court in overseas?

In most of the countries where SISHA International operates, only employees who are members of that country’s Bar Association are legally permitted to represent victims and their families in court.
