In August 2010, SISHA piloted the multi-disciplinary team training package project. Within in the Counter-Trafficking sector, there is an evident need for a coordinated and consistent approach to training of key stakeholders since the existing training modules were numerous and often inconsistent in approach.

This project offers trainings that focus on improving the effectiveness of interaction between the key stakeholders within the Counter-Trafficking field including police, civil society, civil servants, social workers and lawyers.

SISHA developed a curriculum which used the best available training materials for each stakeholder group and then collated these materials into one set of consistent and accessible materials. A training curriculum was also created for delivery to regionally focused multidisciplinary groups of counter human trafficking stakeholders. By strengthening the capacity of governmental and civil society stakeholders, it will result in a stronger, better criminal justice system overall and therefore better fulfilment of human rights standards.

The curriculum for the training clearly conveys the role within the operational context of each of the stakeholder groups, the different obligations of each stakeholder group and also suggestions for how groups can work together to achieve the mutual aim of helping victims and prosecuting and convicting traffickers.

Due to the great success of the piloted curriculum and training program, SISHA, with the generous support from The Asia Foundation, will be offering this course in five different provinces in 2011: Sihanouk, Kampong Thom, Prey Veng, Rattanakiri, and Phnom Penh.
